MONTE CASSIM




1947 Born in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
In 1972, he came to Japan as a government-sponsored foreign student after graduated from School of Architecture, University of Sri Lanka. Studied at Osaka University of Foreign Studies and received a PhD in urban engineering from Graduate School of Engineering The University of Tokyo. He worked as a senior research fellow at United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) and later became a professor at Ritsumeikan University, College of International Relations. He took up the post as the President of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU) in 2004 and the Vice-Chancellor of the Ritsumeikan Trust in 2007. He became Special Aide to the Chancellor, The Ritsumeikan Trust in January, 2013.
His fields of studies are Industrial Policy, Environmental Science, National land Planning, Urban Engineering, and Architecture. A life member of Malaysia Economy Society, former Chairman of Confucius Institute at APU
