OUR MISSION
-THE PURPOSE AND BACKGROUND TO THE FOUNDATION-


I. Purpose
Global Futures Kyoto (GFK) was established as a nonprofit organization to be active experts in the areas of regional revitalization and international exchange, along with the common goal “to maximize the social common capital contributing to the recovery of the Region and Japan.”
We will work on the following themes, aiming for an “NPO for Business Creation” through the innovation (change) of local resources.
  1. 1. Continuous regional growth and management with the theme of sustainable community and area management.
  2. Creation and support of a business model to contribute to local innovation (change).
  3. Local and international exchanges via local assets and intellectual property so on.
II. Application Process
  • June, 2010: The original founding members began to exchange views on issues and problems in their specific fields of regional activity. In the fall of the same year, we picked up “The innovation of the area: Kyoto station – Umekoji Park area – Kyoto Central Wholesale Market – Kyoto Research Park – Gojyo Street – Nijyo Station” as a model area.
  • December, 2010: Repeated discussions were held regarding the ideal structure and direction of activity for the NPO, which would be the significant activity organization. There were many hearings from experts and influential individuals in many fields of area revitalization until March, 2011.
  • April, 2011: An agreement was reached to found “NPO for Business Creation”.
  • September, 2011: NPO application after organization meeting
  • March 27, 2012: NPO approval
  • April 5, 2012: Official foundation of Global Futures Kyoto
